Pumping Test on Hudson Valley Potable Water Wells

GEODesign, Inc. recently managed a 72-hour pumping test on two candidate potable water wells for a development client in the Hudson Valley. The purpose of the test was to determine the practical water yield available from the wells, the effect of pumping on the surrounding bedrock aquifer and whether the water quality met the New York State standards for community potable water.

The test involved recording water flow, geochemical parameters and groundwater elevations, continuously during the 3-day test duration. In addition to the pumping wells, five additional onsite wells and 12 off-site domestic wells were monitored. Extensive groundwater sampling and analyses were completed at the test conclusion. The test report was used to obtain approval from the county health department for well use as a community water source and to assist the client in their application to the local planning board.
