We provided geotechnical engineering and construction support services for the campus improvements and parking lot. Our services included performing subsurface explorations and testing and performing special inspections for foundations and earth support (soil nail wall). We provided geotechnical engineering analyses, design and construction recommendations, including a slope stabilization design concept using high performance turf reinforcement mats and engineered earth anchors for the “giant” slides to be installed on campus.
The Solutions Unearthed
- For the gymnasium, pool and pool house we provided foundation type and bearing pressures for foundations and provided construction inspections for shallow foundations and a soil nail wall.
- The twin parallel slides are built on a 1.7H:1V slope cut into an existing hillside with an approximately 25-foot drop in elevation and is considered a steep slope.
- Based on our slope analysis engineered stabilization was required. The solution was an Armormax system high performance turf reinforcement matting with engineered earth anchors that could be mechanically installed into the upper few feet of the slope surface by construction personnel.
