The development includes construction of a new stadium in Queens, NY, which will be home to the New York City Football Club, a local Major League Soccer team. GEODesign was retained to perform a geotechnical peer review in accordance with the 2022 New York City Building Code. Geotechnical peer review was first introduced into the NYC Building Code in the 2022 edition.
The Solutions Unearthed
- In accordance with the building code, GEODesign performed independent calculations for foundation capacities and anticipated settlement, and reviewed the subsurface investigation scope, the recommendations in the geotechnical report, the site-specific seismic analysis, and the impact of foundation construction on adjacent buildings.
- We worked closely and communicated regularly with the design team to address any concerns associated with the peer review.
We prepared a Geotechnical Peer Review Report in accordance with the 2022 NYC Building Code.
