GEODesign Wins 2023 ACEC-CT Engineering Excellence Award for Washout Repair Design

In September 2021, Hurricane Ida caused an area of TPC River Highlands Golf Course in Cromwell, Connecticut to be washed into the Connecticut River. The washout was 60 feet deep, 90 feet wide and 75 feet long. In addition, a section of railroad track was left dangling precariously over the washout and an underground jet fuel line was disrupted.

GEODesign served as the geotechnical engineer for this project that resulted in delivery of a final design just 28 days after receiving direction, allowing the railroad track to be restored 101 days after the incident.

We are proud to announce that this project is a winner of the 2023 ACEC-CT Engineering Excellence Awards!

Please join us in congratulating Monty Du and other team members from our Connecticut office who worked on this project. We are looking forward to the award presentation next month, at the location where the washout occurred.
