PROJECT OVERVIEW

Forest Grove Family Housing Development

Recycling Concrete

The project consists of the construction of a new $13 million affordable housing development. The project site is a 1.4-acre former concrete plant located in Forest Grove, OR. The previous owner had buried huge amounts of old concrete in landscape areas. This was a big issue because many of the new residences were being constructed on top of this back filled pits. Recycling and reusing the old concrete became an ideal solution.

GEOMechanics was retained as the Geotechnical consultant to provide special inspection services for subgrade inspections, fill removal, and backfill and compaction procedures. Additionally, our firm performed permeable concrete testing. Over excavation and structural fill placement was necessary due to the presence of unsuitable bearing materials.
