GEOMechanics was retained as the Geotechnical consultant to provide special inspection services for subgrade inspections, fill removal, and backfill and compaction procedures. Additionally, our firm performed permeable concrete testing. Over excavation and structural fill placement was necessary due to the presence of unsuitable bearing materials.
The Solutions Unearthed
- A large amount of waste concrete had been left at the site by the previous owner. With the help of our project partners, the concrete was crushed, recycled, and turned into structural fill. The newly recycled concrete was then placed and compacted at locations where the unsuitable bearing material was removed.
- Geomechanics provided special inspection services during excavation, placement and compaction of fill, and proof rolling testing.
- In order to meet the stormwater management requirements of the city, the parking lot areas were paved with permeable concrete. GEOMechanics tested the permeable concrete in order to determine the design infiltration rate.
