GEOMechanics served as the geotechnical consultant, performing subsurface investigation to diagnose the source of movement of the pool structure. We also designed stabilization measures to prevent further settlement of the structure.
The Solutions Unearthed
- The test borings revealed that the pool structure foundations were constructed on loose fill soils causing settlement and slope instability due the added weight of the pool structure.
- In order to prevent future settlement and movement of the hillside, we designed a pin pile system consisting of small hollow injection bar installed through and connected to the retaining wall footings.
- We designed a tied-back deadman system downslope of the pool structure to increase factor of safety against slope stability.
