Baruch College’s Field Building renovations included infrastructure upgrades to the existing mechanical systems, construction of new elevators, the addition of a new building core, lowering the existing cellar 12 feet, and a new large and deep below grade Con Edison vault. GEODesign provided cost effective SOE, underpinning, and structural support designs and construction support.
The Solutions Unearthed
- Designed a unique SOE system for the construction of concrete infill walls between existing foundation piers for the lowering of the cellar level.
- Designed a complex SOE braced system for the Con Edison vault excavation, which was 22 feet deep and directly adjacent to the heavily trafficked 23rd Street.
- GEODesign moved quickly to provide the client with numerous design support sketches to address many field conditions.
