25th Anniversary Celebration & Events Timeline
Dig down to unearth the 25 events we will be hosting throughout 2020
in commemoration of this significant milestone in our firm’s history!
All three offices participated in a month-long January food drive to support their local shelters and food pantries. It is especially important after the holidays, as giving has slowed, to provide food and necessities to those in need. GEODesign employees were eager to play a part in helping those less fortunate than ourselves.
On this day twenty five years ago, January 31, 1995, our founders opened the door to GEODesign. We celebrated this milestone with an office lunch across the company. It gave us time to honor all we have accomplished and look towards the next quarter century.
‘Pony’ is British slang for £25. There are 25 prophets mentioned in the Quran. 25 is the minimum age of candidates for election to the United States House of Representatives. Our employees entered into a contest to see who could come up with the best fact about 25.
GEODesign team member Rob Hoffmann had the winning entry and received a $25 Amazon gift card!
ACE Mentor Program of America (ACE) is a free, award-winning, after school program designed to attract high school students into pursuing careers in the Architecture, Construction and Engineering industry, including skilled trades.
Ted von Rosenvinge, GEODesign co-founder, shared how his career got started and what inspired him to become a Geotechnical Engineer. He also talked through what a typical GEODesign project entails and engaged with students to discuss their current project at the former site of the American Shakespeare Festival Theatre in Stratford, Connecticut.
On behalf of the management at GEODesign, we wish all of the hardworking engineers, support staff and their families a happy Employee Appreciation Day! Their dedication, support, and enthusiasm make GEODesign a great company to work for while making a difference in the world.
GEODesign employees strapped on their goggles, skis/boards and hit the slopes at Mount Snow in Dover, Vermont. We had a blast and made the most of every snow moment!
NOTE: This event was cancelled due to precautionary measures taken to prevent the spread of COVID19. The plan was for the GEODesign team to cheer on the New Jersey Devils hockey team against the Carolina Hurricanes. This event has become an annual tradition and celebrates the camaraderie and fighting spirit within our ranks.
Pet owners know everyday is pet day but we will set aside some extra time to make sure all pets are safe and warm by gathering pet food, powdered laundry detergent, bleach, paper towels, zip lock bags and more to help those animals that remain in shelters across New England.
The Latin word for “earth” or “ground” is GEO. These themes weave through all facets of work performed at GEODesign and GEOCompanies. We will schedule a conservation event soon, to celebrate Earth Day 2020.
On May 1st, perhaps the most anticipated event within the company, GEODesign CT will be joining forces with the Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity in this year’s Women Build 2020. Build Week is a national event inviting women from all walks of life to devote at least one day to help families build strength, stability and independence through housing.
A yearly tradition at GEODesign, we will again honor a student in the STEM fields with a grant as recognition for academic study or achievement.
GEODesign will be hosting a client cocktail party, including stops at Fascia Chocolate Shop and Thomaston Dam. We will celebrate the shortest nights, the longest days and the successes we have built together.

The natural scenery of the Northeast provides for a dramatic geological history, shaped over centuries by glaciers and volcanoes. On June 15th, we will take time to reconnect with one another and the materials of our trade.
For our 20th anniversary, we thoroughly enjoyed a boat cruise down the Connecticut River. GEODesign looks forward to again setting sail for our 25th!
GEODesign will compile some creative ways to reduce our impact on the environment through the 4Rs: reduce, reuse, recycle, and repurpose. Perhaps we can also design a new way to reuse or re-purpose something at the end of its useful life.
We will be throwing axes for a fun, exciting and memorable experience. Employees will don their finest kilts and strongest protective gear in this lumberjack/jane event intended to match our engineers’ brains and brawn.
As part of team building, GEODesign is planning a fun night out for their employees to test their skills and work together to escape before time runs out! Humans are naturally inquisitive creatures. GEODesign encourages and celebrates this investigative trait in all our employees.
Details coming soon!
GEODesign will host an informal training and development session for all interested professionals. The goal of this Lunch and Learn will be to connect engineers from different teams to give them an opportunity to share their skills and expertise. We believe collaborative communication and training to be integral parts to GEODesign’s success.

Time to roll up our sleeves. Blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person as it is literally the gift of life. GEODesign will make it a little easier for all of us to take time to donate.
