#1 – Spooner House Dinner

GEODesign’s Connecticut office hosted a dinner for the residents of the Spooner House to kick-off our firm’s 25th Anniversary celebration! The Spooner House’s mission is to provide food, shelter and support services to people in need. We shared time with the residents as well as preparing, serving and cleaning-up afterwards. Dinner was held at Christ Church, Quaker Farms in Oxford, Connecticut.

#2 – Food Drive Donations

All three offices participated in a month-long January food drive to support their local shelters and food pantries. It is especially important after the holidays, as giving has slowed, to provide food and necessities to those in need. GEODesign employees were eager to play a part in helping those less fortunate than ourselves.

#3 – 25th Anniversary Lunch

On this day twenty five years ago, January 31, 1995, our founders opened the door to GEODesign. We celebrated this milestone with an office lunch across the company. It gave us time to honor all we have accomplished and look towards the next quarter century.

#4 – Fun facts about the #25

‘Pony’ is British slang for £25. There are 25 prophets mentioned in the Quran. 25 is the minimum age of candidates for election to the United States House of Representatives. Our employees entered into a contest to see who could come up with the best fact about 25.

GEODesign team member Rob Hoffmann had the winning entry and received a $25 Amazon gift card!

#5 – ACE Mentor Program

ACE Mentor Program of America (ACE) is a free, award-winning, after school program designed to attract high school students into pursuing careers in the Architecture, Construction and Engineering industry, including skilled trades.

Ted von Rosenvinge, GEODesign co-founder, shared how his career got started and what inspired him to become a Geotechnical Engineer. He also talked through what a typical GEODesign project entails and engaged with students to discuss their current project at the former site of the American Shakespeare Festival Theatre in Stratford, Connecticut.

#9 – National Pet Day – Shelter Donations

Pet owners know everyday is pet day but we will set aside some extra time to make sure all pets are safe and warm by gathering pet food, powdered laundry detergent, bleach, paper towels, zip lock bags and more to help those animals that remain in shelters across New England.

On May 1st, perhaps the most anticipated event within the company, GEODesign CT will be joining forces with the Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity in this year’s Women Build 2020.
